Nick Franklin is a Sydney based sound engineer, producer and mixer. Nick’s passion for sound and technology began as a teenager, recording his own music and friend’s bands in the garage with whatever gear he could get together with pocket money.
Nick went on to study sound engineering in Sydney and eventually call the place home. Nick then did a stint working under mastering engineer Rick O’Neil at one of Australia's premier mastering facilities, Turtlerock Mastering. During this time Nick gain invaluable experience in the field of mastering that he still applies to every project.
Having worked as a producer with some of Australia's most exciting young and new artists including Matt Corby, Julia and the Deep Sea Sirens, Making, Unity Floors, No Art, Ted Danson with Wolves, Oslow, Loose Pills, Little Lovers, Cuthbert and The Nightwalkers, and The Shakin’ Howls, Nick is in touch with production aesthetics of all kinds.
Nick is also a musician and multi-instrumentalist for bands such as The Metal Babies, The Fabergettes and Atom Bombs, so understands what it’s like on the other side of the glass. When the project calls for it Nick can be involved with the songwriting, arrangement and production aspects of a recording and ensure the song reaches it's maximum potential.
Wade Keighran is a Sydney based rock musician, songwriter, audio engineer and record producer who is one of the in-house engineers at Linear Recording Studios.
Since starting his first band at the age of 13 with childhood friend Dan Sultan, Wade has been heavily involved in all facets of music. At the age of 18, Wade founded the punk rock band Taking Sides and went on to release 2 Eps and an album that were well-received on popular Sydney based label, Resist Records.
In 2005, Wade amicably parted ways with the band to become the bass player and co-songwriter for Queensland based band The Scare who promptly relocated to the UK to begin writing and touring in support of their debut album Chivalry. This journey took The Scare on 5 years of relentless touring through the U.K, Europe, U.S.A and Australia, playing festivals such as Reading and Leeds, The Big Day Out, Homebake and Download Fest. The bands success culminated with their second and final album OOZEVOODOO released in 2009 and produced by Daniel Johns of Silverchair.
After The Scare disbanded, Wade began to pursue his studio career seriously, earning the role of senior assistant at Big Jesus Burger (BJB) studios in Sydney where he learned under engineer and producer heavyweights Chris Townend (Portishead, D12, Oren Ambarchi), Scott Horscroft (Silverchair, The Sleepy Jackson) and Eric J Dubowski (Weezer, Chet Faker).
When BJB closed its doors in 2011, Wade was very honoured to join the team at Linear Recording Studios whilst simultaneously joining Adelaide based heavy rock band Wolf & Cub as the bass player and co-songwriter.
Since his commencement at Linear, Wade has happily become a regular fixture as the in-house studio engineer working with nearly everyone that walks through the doors including Spirit Valley, Step-Panther, Empire of the Sun, The Presets, Daniel Johns, Peking Duk and Keith Urban, to name a few. After the construction of the “Quad Eight” mix room in 2012 Wade has also focused on stepping up his mixing game and enjoys every part of the process from songwriting, producing, engineering to mixing.
In 2015, Wade not only maintains his position as in-house engineer at Linear Recording Studios but continues to tour relentlessly with both Wolf & Cub and Steve Smyth & The Outlaws and still hopes to one day meet Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead.
Dorny Mayes has worked in the studio with some of the world’s top producers including Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg, The Kooks) Andy Green (Keane) Peter Mayes (Empire of the Sun) and David Nicholas (INXS, Midnight Oil)
Having recorded in studios in the USA, UK and Germany with many different producers has developed Dorny’s production skills to get bands realising their vision of a song from start to finish.
Now residing back in Sydney after living in Europe, Dorny is applying his skills and knowledge at Linear and has recently been named an API rising star engineer.
