Linear Recording is music studio based in Sydney, Australia.

The studio has been built from the ground up to offer bands and artists a world-class, technically proficient but highly creative workspace at an affordable price.

Inside offers a blend of well-maintained vintage gear and state-of-the-art equipment in rooms that are highly conducive to making music. Whilst the technical aspect of the studios is paramount to us, sessions are run with an emphasis on creativity, vibe and capturing performance.

We have all possible formats for tracking – including 8 track, 16 track and 24 track analogue tape as well as 24 channels of uncompromising Apogee digital conversion (using Pro Tools or Logic). On 90% of sessions it’s a combination of analogue tape (for tracking) and digital magic (for overdubs and editing).

We also have a fine collection of vintage and modern instruments at your disposal, all included as part of the daily rate including a huge collection of vintage keyboards, amps, drums and percussion (see the equipment page for a full list).

Our discography shows a huge and diverse catalogue of recordings covering virtually all musical genres including Jazz, Indie, Classical, Metal, Country, Dance and everything in between. Bands such as Lions at Your Door, Empire of the Sun, INXS, The Presets, Traps, Damn Arms, Sneaky Sound System, Red Light Nation, The Tunstalls, Mercy Arms, Leroy Lee, Katie Noonan, Michael Carpenter and the Cuban Heels, Josh Pyke, Armen Firman and many more have all recorded or mixed @ Linear.
